This 2-day Sapa Village Trek & Ethnic Homestay is designed for travelers who want more than scenery — they want the story behind it. Over two days and one night, you'll walk the two most rewarding trail systems in northern Vietnam, sleep inside a genuine ethnic minority household, and experience a side of Sapa that most visitors only see from a tour bus window.
Y Linh Ho & Lao Chai — Black Hmong communities along the Muong Hoa Valley, known for indigo-dyed clothing and sweeping terraced rice fields. Ta Van — home of the Dzay (Giay) ethnic group, with traditional stilt houses and a rich oral tradition. Cat Cat — Black Hmong village set in a steep gorge with French colonial hydroelectric ruins and a waterfall. Sin Chai — a quiet Black Hmong village at the base of Fansipan Mountain, rarely visited by tourists.
On Day 1, you depart Sapa and descend into the Muong Hoa Valley — 6km to Y Linh Ho Village, then 2km to Lao Chai, then on to Ta Van Village where lunch is served at a Dzay family home. On Day 2, the route heads southwest to Cat Cat Village, past a riverside picnic lunch, and up to Sin Chai Village at Fansipan's base.

Y Linh Ho · Lao Chai · Ta Van Village
09:30: Start the trip with a 6km walk heading southeast of Sapa, along the stunning Muong Hoa Valley, toward Y Linh Ho Village, home of the Black H'Mong ethnic minority.
Continue a 2km trek down to Lao Chai Village, where you can admire the breathtaking terraced rice fields and observe the daily life of the H'Mong people.
Journey onwards to Ta Van Village, inhabited by the Dzay minority people. Here, you will have lunch and your family's home is a great chance to discover their traditional house architecture, unique lifestyle, and fascinating customs.
After lunch, enjoy the peaceful landscapes as you walk another 2km to the bus stop in Ta Van. Transfer back to Sapa by jeep or minivan.

Cat Cat · Sin Chai
After breakfast, start the trek with a 2km walk to the southwest of Sapa toward Cat Cat Village, home of the Black H'Mong ethnic minority.
Explore the traditional houses, local crafts, and daily life of the villagers. Stop at the village waterfall and visit the remains of a hydroelectric power station built by the French during colonial times.
Explore Sapa Caves and walk through picturesque scenery.
Continue trekking about 3km to Sin Chai Village, located at the foot of Fansipan Mountain — known as "the Roof of Vietnam and Indochina".
From Sin Chai, admire the vast, breathtaking landscapes before meeting your jeep for the drive back to Sapa town.
