The 3-Day Sapa Village Trekking & Bac Ha Market Tour is EcoSapa Bus's most culturally immersive itinerary — designed for travelers who want to go beyond the cable car and truly understand life in the northern Vietnamese highlands. Over three days, you'll walk through four ethnic minority villages, witness the spectacle of Bac Ha Sunday Market, and explore a 19th-century royal palace that most visitors to Sapa never see.
Cat Cat Village — Black Hmong ethnic group, home to a French-built hydroelectric station from 1925. Y Linh Ho, Lao Chai & Ta Van — the Muong Hoa Valley corridor: Black Hmong in Lao Chai with panoramic terraced fields; Giay ethnic group in Ta Van with traditional folk stories and a distinctive rope-and-rattan bridge. Ban Pho Village (Day 3) — Flower Hmong community in Bac Ha district, known for their distinctive embroidered clothing and homemade corn spirit.
On Day 1, your EcoSapa VIP limousine departs Hanoi at 5:30–6:00 AM, arriving Sapa by 10:30 AM. The afternoon is a relaxed 2.5km walk through Cat Cat Village — an introduction to Hmong daily life, traditional weaving, and a hidden waterfall powered by a century-old French hydroelectric plant. Evening free to explore Sapa town.
On Day 2, the main trekking day begins early. A 5km guided hike through Muong Hoa Valley passes through Y Linh Ho (views of the Hoang Lien Son range), Lao Chai (Black Hmong terraced fields), and reaches Ta Van Village — home of the Giay ethnic group, where your guide translates the most remarkable folk legends of the highlands. The return is by bus from Ta Van Bridge, one of the most photographed structures in northern Vietnam.
On Day 3, the itinerary changes character entirely. You leave the mountains and head to Bac Ha — a highland town 60km from Sapa — for the famous Sunday Market. The bustle of Flower Hmong women in hand-embroidered costumes, local livestock trading, and the smell of fresh corn wine makes this one of the most photographed and culturally vivid experiences in Vietnam. After the market, a short walk brings you to Hoang A Tuong Palace before heading to Ban Pho Village to sample corn wine directly from the source. Return to Lao Cai city, then VIP transfer back to Hanoi.

Muong Hoa Valley Trek Begins — Y Linh Ho Village
Begin your full-day adventure in Muong Hoa Valley with a 5-kilometer guided hike. Your first stop is Y Linh Ho Village, where views of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range open up around you. Here you'll observe ethnic minority children in distinctive brocade clothing going about their morning routines — an authentically unhurried scene.
Lao Chai Village — Black Hmong Terraced Fields
The trail continues to Lao Chai Village, home of the Black Hmong ethnic group. This is the most photogenic section of the valley — the terraced fields here cascade down the hillside in wide, sweeping layers that turn golden in September–November and vivid green in summer. Your guide explains the traditional Hmong agricultural calendar and the significance of the terraces to village life.
Ta Van Village — Giay Ethnic Group & Folk Stories
The final village of the day is Ta Van Village, home to the Giay ethnic group. Unlike the Black Hmong, the Giay people have a distinct language, musical tradition, and oral folklore. Breakfast at hotel and pack your luggage for checkout. Depart Sapa by vehicle for Bac Ha — a highland town approximately 60km from Sapa in the opposite direction from Hanoi. The drive takes approximately 1.5 hours through mountain passes and rural landscapes.
Bac Ha Sunday Market — The Most Colorful Market in Northern Vietnam
Arrive at Bac Ha Market — one of the most spectacular ethnic markets in all of Southeast Asia. On Sunday mornings, Flower Hmong women descend from mountain villages in their magnificent hand-embroidered costumes of bright pinks, yellows and blues — a visual feast that no camera can fully capture.

The final stop before heading home: Ban Pho Village, a traditional Flower Hmong community known throughout the region for their distinctive corn spirit — a potent homemade rice-and-corn wine that has been made the same way for generations.
