Trip Itinerary

Discover Hanoi through Hanoi. This itinerary is organized around the experiences that matter most to the route, with clear day-by-day details so you can compare the pace and inclusions before choosing your tour.

1Day 1: A Taste of Hanoi Countryside: Farm Tour & Cooking Class

Step outside the hustle of Hanoi and discover authentic village life on this immersive half-day experience. From exploring a historic market dating back to the 15th century to strolling through lush vegetable fields and fruit gardens, you’ll gain a real taste of rural traditions. The journey concludes with a hands-on cooking class in a local home, where you’ll prepare and take in traditional Vietnamese dishes while learning about family customs.

Morning: 9:30 – 13:30.

Afternoon: 3:00 – 6:30 (no market).

Your journey begins with a short drive, about 17 km (35 minutes), from Hanoi center to a peaceful village in the west of the city. We will meet you at the designated meeting point before starting the experience.

In the morning, your first stop is a local market that has existed since the Le King Dynasty in 1428. Known as the most famous market in the region, it remains a lively gathering place for villagers. On market days (two or three times per week), people from surrounding areas bring along dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, and bamboo baskets to trade, creating a bustling and colorful atmosphere under the canopy of an ancient tree.

You may see elderly women chewing betel and areca nut or blacksmiths working hard beside their glowing braziers. On non-market days, you’ll still take in the vibrant scene of locals selling fish, vegetables, fruits, and meats, while having the chance to chat with vendors about their daily life.

Right next to the market, you’ll discover expansive vegetable farms and fruit gardens. Stroll through fields where farmers grow bitter melon, corn, cauliflower, cabbage, tomatoes, green peas, soybeans, and more. You’ll also see orchards with oranges, pomelos, papayas, guavas, bananas, and other seasonal fruits. Along the way, you may even join a farmer in his work and learn about cultivation techniques and rural lifestyles directly from the locals.

After the market and farm explore, you’ll continue to a local house for a hands-on cooking experience. Here, you’ll learn how to prepare traditional Vietnamese dishes using simple and authentic recipes. Take in your creations alongside fresh vegetables, fruits, and traditional cakes.

Over the meal, you’ll also have the chance to talk about Vietnamese family customs and daily life. Complimentary tea and local drinks will be served to complete this warm, authentic experience.
